Having no association with the “Shiv Sagar” Chain of fast-food restaurants though often assumed, Shiv has completed his Bachelor’s of Science in Hospitality Management from the “Les Roches” Swiss Hotel Management School in Canton Valais of Switzerland in 1999 passing with Summa Cum Lade and two gold medals. He interned during his Suisse school in The Renaissance hotel, Zurich, Juhu Centaur Hotel, Mumbai and the Leela Hotel, Mumbai. Though he hails from a film family, Shiv from an early age was attracted to the hospitality and the food industry. After completing his hotel school and returning to India, he turned around a family owned 50-room hotel in Kullu-Manali, Himachal Pradesh called Sagar Resort. He ran the operations and marketing for a period of 5 years.
After that he completed his MBA from the reputed Indian School of Business graduating in 2004. Post which Shiv was working on a mythological theme park project on a family owned land in Haridwar located on the banks of the Holy Ganga River. He collected a $ 1 Million dollars of investments from NRI’s for the same, but the project never took place.
In 2008, at the age of 31 years, Shiv got into television production due his family business with a first successful show called, “Mahima Shani Dev Ki” on NDTV Imagine channel (Turner India). It was an instant hit and the show ran for 4 years. Post that he did many successful television shows (Jai Jai Jai Bajrang Bali on Sahara One, Jai Jagj Janini Ma Durga on Colors, Basera on NDTV Imagine, Vikram and Betal on Colors), award winning short films (The End – at the New York Film Academy – NYFA) and directed a 3-d Film for the Gujarat Government titled, “Arasuri Maa Ambe.”In 2014, He went back to his first love, with Tooth Mountain Farms a boutique farm stay in Karjat where it was his brain child to convert the family farm house into a hospitality venture. His efforts of accumulating a land bank in Karjat since 2005 resulted in the expanse of the current project, and gave the opportunity for other projects to take birth like Art Village, Karjat. He also started experimenting and increasing his knowledge in the farming and agro-tourism sector. Shiv has a knack with lands, and believes that they are also living entities that talk to us, if we are ready to listen. He loves to develop and nurture lands and create world-class facilities on them which are sustainable and future proof. He continues to dwell in both industries of media and hospitality – diverse as they both may seem – both involve caring and interacting with human beings and their diverse natures.
Neelam, has over 40 years of experience in horticulture, the art of bonsai, flower arrangement and landscaping. She studied at the prestigious Ikebana Ohara Chapter, Mumbai till her 2nd masters, (this is an intensive 7-year course under her Guru Lalita Kalmbi). After making several field trips to Japan to study landscaping and bonsai, Neelam did her Higher studies in the field of Bonsai under Jyoti and Nikunj Parekh and then under Sujay Shah. More recently she does Landscaping of commercial, residential and farm projects. She set up her Nursery in 2005, Tooth Mountain Nursery and under that she has completed many prestigious projects including Yash Raj Studio and the residences of several film stars and producers like Aditya Chopra, Rani Mukherjee, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta, Parineeti Chopra etc. In the restaurant space she has worked on all the The Bar Stock Exchanges, WTF’s, Socials and Sassy Spoon. She has projects all over India.
Through her intense study and skill, she has managed to grow orchids and high end variety like ferns on dry woodin Karjat climatic conditions. It all started from a humble nursery, and she always says that the plants have given her so much.
All the plants and greenery one sees around Tooth Mountain is her doing. She is also responsible for the delicious home cooked meals, all of which are her recipes and the extreme cleanliness and overall management of the place due to her various skills she honed as a house-wife.
